Women are Just as Vital as Men
For every seventy men in the military, there are thirty women, so women do feel dominated by the men.
A way, way long ago, only men were drafted/enlisted into the military. When battles and corruption occurred and many male soldiers died, a predicament arose. There were huge shortages of soldiers and its not like the military authorities could draft even more people because the remaining men were all too young. Then it was time for the women to come into the military and show that they can do more than wash clothes and cook.
Approximately 400,000 women serve in the United States military - they are 14% of the active force and 19% of the total force.
"When a woman joins the military and attends the basic training of her respective branch ... every element of that training hinges on one primary principle. That principle is camaraderie. One soldier always protects another soldier's back. Everything is about unity and uniformity. The rhythm of cadence is the rhythm of the day. Imagine the devastation, then, of being an American soldier who is assaulted or raped by one of her own, a fellow soldier” - Jane Hoppen from Gale Group Research
The women in the military don't share the same health coverage as the women outside of the military.
Civilian women receive health coverage through federal programs on things such as an abortion in the case of rape, insest, and when a woman's life is in danger. The rape/insest exception does not apply for those women within the military.
In the year 2010, 3,100 rape cases were reported excluding all the ones that were unreported because women thought there jobs would be on the line. An act was passed to protect and restore rape/insest within the military its called the National Defense Authorization Act.
